NCDEQ Methyl Bromide Public Hearing
July 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
The NC Department of Environmental Quality Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host public hearings on the proposed rules in Wilmington next month on methyl bromide. ICYMI, methyl bromide is a colorless, odorless highly toxic pesticide that has the added benefit of being a powerful ozone depleter. DEQ is developing regulations for its use after log exporters in Wilmington and Columbus County applied for permits last year to start new operations using this chemical. (An existing one is already permitted in ILM and wants to expand). Please attend this public hearing in Wilmington.
The public comment period will be open until August 16, 2019. Comments may be submitted by email to daq.publiccomments@ncdenr.
