Pride Movie Screening and Discussion

June 21 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

In June we’ll honor National Pride Month by having a free screening and discussion of the movie “PRIDE”.

“PRIDE” takes place in Margaret Thatcher’s England in the summer of 1984, when the Tory government was attempting to crush the long-running strike by the National Union of Mineworkers. It tells the true story of a group of London-based gay and lesbian activists who raise funds to support the families of striking miners and, cutting through red tape, travel to a small village in Wales to make their donation in person. Initially meeting with skepticism and distrust, they gradually win the respect and friendship of the miners. Both groups find common cause and ultimately join each other’s battles.
